The First Baby of Year Has Arrived!
Edmundston, January 1, 2009 – Regional Health Authority A, Madawaska-Victoria Zone is pleased to announce the birth of the region’s first baby of the year! Little Mollie was welcomed into the world at the Edmundston Regional Hospital at 3:21 a.m. on January 1, 2009.
The daughter of Bryan and Anita Finnemore of Plaster Rock, Mollie weighed 2.937 kilograms (7 pounds and 6 ounces) at birth, and was delivered by Dr. Liette Poitras. Mollie is the couple’s fourth child and the whole family is doing well.
The New Brunswick Medical Society presented a 3-in-1 car seat to the first newborn of the New Year as part of its 2009 Safe Start program. This initiative’s goal is to make the public and new parents aware of the importance of car safety.

Awareness Raised about Dangers of Methamphetamine Use during National
Addictions Awareness Week

Public Notice - The Support Group for parents with hyperactive children
resumes its activities in the Grand Falls area
Grand Falls, August 27, 2008 – The support group for parents with hyperactive children (ADHD) or an attention deficit without hyperactivity (ADD) is back with its monthly meetings in the Grand Falls area every second Wednesday night of the month, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The group meets in Health department’s basement in Grand Falls’ city hall, 131 Pleasant Street. The first activity will be held on a Wednesday, September 10, 2008, 7 p.m. and psychologist Richard Ouellette will be the guest speaker.
